March 10, 2011 – According to a report from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), approximately 1,545 Baby Jogger Jump Seats have been recalled because of a fall hazard. Richmond, Virginia-based distributer Baby Jogger LLC recalled the “Baby Jogger Jump Seats” because they could potentially separate from the stroller if the jump seat doesn’t correctly lock. So far there have been 4 reports of injuries, after children fell from the seat. Injuries have ranged from cuts, bruise and scrapes to 1 child sustaining a broken nose. The jump seat is made of fabric and has the name “Baby Jogger” on the front. It attaches on a mounting bracket to the frame of 3 different types of strollers: Baby Jogger Summit, Baby Jogger City Elite and Baby Jogger City Classic. It is designed to allow both a baby and toddler to ride in the stroller together. The recalled jump seat has item number J7J50 on the packaging and was sold starting in January 2008. This product was made available online, as well as through department stores, juvenile product stores and mass merchandisers. Consumers are advised to stop using the product and to contact Baby Jogger for information on safety straps and assembly instructions. If your child has been injured by a defective product, you may be eligible to seek compensation through a defective product claim.
