September 13, 2012 – Long Island, N.Y. – Newsday reported that a motorcyclist was critically injured after colliding with a jeep on Long Island on Tuesday, Aug. 28.
Joseph Bonner, 26, of Carll’s Path, was traveling east on Garden City Avenue when his bike crashed into a Jeep heading north. Bonner was transported by ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center. The driver of the Jeep, Christopher McLaurin, 50, was also taken there for treatment but was later released.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation. While it’s hard to say what may have led to this particular collision, some of the possible causes of motorcycle crashes in general are when a car makes a left turn in front of a bike, issues arising when the driver of the car does not see the bike, or sudden stops that lead a rear-end accident.
