November 5, 2012 – Brooklyn, N.Y. – ABC Local reported that a 42-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Brooklyn.
At the time of the report, the man’s identity was being withheld, pending notification of family members. And police were still investigating the fatal hit-and-run accident, asking for anyone with information to contact them.
The accident occurred on Sunday, Oct, 21, at approximately 1 p.m. The victim was walking on Vermont Place in Cypress Hills when he was hit by a white vehicle on Highland Boulevard.
When police arrived at the scene of the accident, the man was unresponsive. He was then transported to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center. It was at the hospital where the victim was pronounced dead.
According to witnesses, the vehicle that struck the man was a Lincoln Town livery cab. Police were visiting car services in the area to inspect white vehicles.
According to statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2010, there were 1,200 fatalities as a result of traffic accidents in the state of New York.
