A Workplace Tragedy in Maryland
A man who was working on a farm in Preston, Maryland, was seriously electrocuted when a piece of machinery struck live power lines, according to WBOC-16. The man was working on a grain silo just after 10 a.m. on December 3, 2012.
A steel cable swung into the power lines and the electricity then ran through the cable and connected to the crane with which the worker was in contact.
Turner was unconscious when officials arrived at the scene. He was taken to Memorial Hospital in Easton for treatment. He regained consciousness by early afternoon the same day as the accident. Officials expect him to make a full recovery.
The incident is under investigation. Investigators are working in cooperation with the Maryland Occupational Safety and Health Division of Labor and Industry.
