Giant Bicycle Inc., as advised by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), has issued a voluntary recall of its 2011 model year Anthem Giant bicycles because of a falling hazard. The falling hazard is created by weak construction just below the handlebars. The frame of the bike may crack at the junction of the seat post and top tube. If this piece of framework cracks, the rider of the bicycle could easily fall and incur minor to critical injuries. The bicycle recall affects Giant bikes model year 2011 Anthem Giant X 29er 1, 2 and 3; this includes all sizes of the bicycle (small, medium and large). The affected bicycles were manufactured in Taiwan and sold nationwide in the U.S. during August 2010 for between $2,200 and $3,500. The total number of bikes recalled is about 370. If you are the owner of one of the affected Giant bicycles, you are required to stop riding your bicycle immediately.
