Checking In on Safety: How to Protect Yourself at a Hotel while on Vacation

Whether traveling for business or pleasure, you may find yourself in a hotel room this summer. You might think this home away from home is safe, but unfortunately many hotels can be a target for criminal activity. Even the fanciest of hotels are not immune from dangerous situations so you should always follow these rules when checking – in.

  • Always lock your door using the deadbolt and any other extra locks that may be provided.
  • Don’t give out your room number to any strangers and make sure the clerk at the front desk doesn’t say the number too loudly.
  • Request a room that is at least one or two floors above ground level.
  • Report any suspicious activities or people to the front desk as soon as possible.
