November 29, 2010 – After consulting with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), VOS Sports Inc. has initiated a voluntary recall of children’s hooded jackets and sweatshirts because of a strangulation hazard. The defective items have drawstrings in the hood and/or waistband. The drawstrings could tighten, posing a strangulation or entrapment risk to the child. These defective hoodies and sweatshirts fail to comply with the CPSC guidelines, issued in 1996 to prevent children from choking and entanglement. The defective hooded jackets and sweatshirts include the following style numbers:
- A1071 Nylon Jacket;
- B300 Nylon Jacket;
- B600 Nylon Jacket;
- B700 Nylon Jacket;
- B900 Sweatshirt; and
- 1066 Nylon Jacket.
The recall affects about 11,700 garments. It affects all children’s nylon hooded jackets with drawstrings sold under the “VOS Sports” brand name. The jackets were sold in various sizes and colors. All of the affected jackets have “VOS Sports” and “RN#94353” printed on the sewn-in label. The defective jackets were sold nationwide from January 2005 to February 2010 for $17 to $34. Consumers should remove the drawstrings from the clothing immediately to eliminate the hazard and/or contact VOS Sports Inc. to return the garment for a refund: 1-888-268-6867.
