According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC),Target has voluntarily expanded its recall on step stools with storage, due to the risk of falling. The product, imported from Target Corporation of Minneapolis, Minn., can collapse or break apart when a consumer steps on it. The step stools come under the brand names Circo and Do Your Room (DYR). They come in various colors and have 2 steps. The Circo brand has a lid that lifts on the bottom step, which provides storage. The DYR brand has a lid that lifts on the top step, which also provides storage. Target received 27 reports of the step stools either collapsing or breaking apart. The incidences involved 8 adults, 14 children and 5 people of an unknown age. Minor injuries included scrapes and bruises to 6 children and 1 adult. One adult suffered a fractured wrist. Another adult suffered a fractured wrist, hip and pelvis. Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the product and return it to Target for a full refund.
