December 6, 2010 – Humble, TX – A Texas couple has filed a medical malpractice lawsuit following an alleged mistake by doctors that allowed a man’s lung cancer to spread, Ultimate Beta Lake Houston has reported. According to Anthony Reynolds, he was diagnosed with lung cancer at Memorial Hermann Northeast hospital, in Humble, whereupon he decided to undergo surgery to remove the cancerous cells. Reynolds’ surgery was performed to remove cancerous cells in the lower lobe of his left lung. Reynolds was later informed that the affected cells were actually in the upper lobe of his left lung. Because of this mistake, the suit says, Reynolds’ cancer was allowed to spread. Reynolds and his wife, Shu Fen Reynolds, have filed their medical malpractice lawsuit against Dr. Kahm Luu and Memorial Hermann Northeast. The suit states that negligence on the part of the doctor and the hospital allowed Reynolds’ cancer to go untreated. This caused the cancer to spread, which may have been avoided. The Reynolds are seeking unspecified compensatory damages for their suffering, as well as court costs. The lawsuit was filed on December 1, 2010, in the Harris County District Court. The Reynolds’ case is currently pending trial.
